About Verdugo Internal Medicine

Internal medicine is the speciality of caring for adults. Three internists (specialists in internal medicine) founded Verdugo Internal Medicine in 1988. As of 2006, we have grown to six internists.

Our office is in the La Crescenta/La Canada area in north Glendale, a few miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles. We are one of the premier primary care practices in the area. Though one of our physicians specializes in adolescent medicine, we do not see patients younger than twelve years old.

At Verdugo Internal Medicine, we spend as much time with each patient as we feel he or she needs. We believe personalized care is better medicine and more satisfying for both doctor and patient. We are particularly interested in trying to keep our patients healthy.

Taking more time means we don't see as many patients per day as some other practices. Therefore, we do not accept contractural discounts on our fees, such as HMOs. We are not "preferred providers" (providing discounted care) for any PPOs. But we do bill insurance and help each patient achieve the maximal reimbursement possible. So far this has worked well for our patients.

Personalized care also means individualizing the relationship of each patient with his or her physician. Each doctor has his or her own phone number and staff. As a result, not all patients and referring doctors realize how much we help each other out. Each of us covers the other's patients when needed.

I also see a limited number of people who have chronic pain or problems with medications following on-the-job injuries. Please look here for more information. Note that the other physicians at Verdugo Internal Medicine do not see workers compensation problems.

We are located at 1809 Verdugo Boulevard, Suite 200, in Glendale, right across the street from Verdugo Hills Hospital near the northern tip of the 2 Freeway. Telephone (818) 790-4300

Driving directions

Here is a map.

The easiest way to find our office:

Take the 134 or 5 freeway to the 2 Glendale freeway north. Go to the northernmost end of the 2 freeway, where it splits into three sections. Stay to the far right and take the right-hand exit ramp. In about 200 yards, exit onto Verdugo Boulevard. At the bottom of the ramp, turn right. Go one short block. You'll see Verdugo Hills Hospital on the right. Our office is across Verdugo Boulevard, so turn left at the light up a very short street. At the end of the street turn left into our parking lot. We're on the second floor right near the elevator and the top of the stairs.

From Simi Valley, Northridge, and other areas northwest of Glendale:

Take the 210 freeway east toward Pasadena. Exit at Ocean View Blvd. and turn left (go north, up the hill). Turn right at the next major street, Foothill Boulevard. Go about a mile east on Foothill and turn right at Alta Canyada Road (there's a stoplight). Go down the hill and across the bridge, then turn right on Verdugo Boulevard. Turn right at the next small street, then left into our parking lot.

From Pasadena and other areas east of Glendale:

Take the 210 freeway west toward San Fernando. Exit at Angeles Crest Highway and turn left (go south, down the hill). Turn right at the next major street, Foothill Boulevard. Go about a quarter of a mile west on Foothill and turn left at the jump light onto Verdugo Boulevard. Turn right at the small street at the second traffic light, then left into our parking lot. If you go under the freeway, or see Verdugo Hills Hospital on your left, you've gone too far.
